What is the significance of the difference in the affinity for oxygen between myoglobin and haemoglobin?

Tinashe Gondwa

Difference...-myoglobin has higher affinity for oxygen than haemoglobin..
-myoglobin does not easily loose its oxygen while haemoglobin readily loose its oxygen
Significance....myoglobon is a secondary source of oxygen to the body during straineous activities where the oxygen carried by the haemoglobin is insufficient to maintain body processes....eg during an exercise
