  3. Top Play: for 4 - 9 year-olds that includes core skills and fun sports.
  4. Top Sport: for 7 - 11 year-olds. This is sponsored by BT and includes specific sports of basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby, squash, table tennis and tennis.

  6. Sports Colleges: The YST has a contract with the Department of Education and Employment to help secondary schools with their applications to become Sports Colleges.

Champion Coaching

Launched by the National Coaching Foundation (NCF) in 1990 with the aim of improving the performances of school elected, 11 - 14 year-olds in specified sports.

It has continued to grow over the decade to over 2,000 coaches being involvedand over 750 sports programmes.

School and Club Links

Directing students into local clubs is the best way of helping them to continue to develop their ability in sport.

Although there are many informal links between schools and local clubs the greatest success is achieved when there is a pro-active effort by the club and school to get youngsters involved with club sport.
